Meet Bosque

From a recent article in the American Indian Graduate Center's (AIGC) quarterly magazine, Bosque parent Dr. Kevin Goodluck wrote, “ ‘I see the pulmonary branches and alveoli example,’ my tenth grade son said, as we looked at a nearby tree, to review what he learned at a First Responder’s course he took at Bosque School. ‘The lung starts as a main tracheal trunk and branches to the two bronchial. They branch off into smaller and smaller airways. These end in the alveoli, the leaves.’ He saw it and he got it.

I understood, right then and there, that comparing myself to him at that age, coming from the Navajo reservation, I never got it. His education far exceeds my own at that age. His motivation at this age blows mine to smithereens.”

When Kalen, class of 2012, joined the Medical Responder Corps (MRC), at Bosque School, it was a turning point for him. It was like a "light bulb" went off and all he was learning made sense, as he knew his passion and direction. I thought when this happened... this is why we have sent Kalen to Bosque School. Kalen has found another passion through Bosque School. This happened when he wrote an essay and was selected to attend the Student Diversity Leadership Conference during his junior year. His experience has blossomed into confidence, finding his advocate voice and opened up his eyes that he can make a youthful difference in his community and be comfortable in his own skin. This also includes helping others see the importance of acceptance and respect for all. We appreciate Bosque School and the opportunities beyond academics that have made a big impact on our son's life.”
